Oxy Arts and the Arts in Los Angeles Immersive Semester

Oxy Arts opened in 2019 on York Boulevard and is the community-based arts hub of Occidental College. The Arts in Los Angeles Immersive Semester is an interdisciplinary approach for first-year students, even while remote, to become actively involved in research on and the work of the arts in Los Angeles. At this special event, Oxy Arts Director Meldia Yesayan and Professor Amy Lyford will discuss their work with Oxy students and the Eagle Rock community, and how these new programs are enriching the Oxy experience.

In Plain Sight Launch

During summer 2020 Oxy Arts forged a partnership with In Plain Sight—a coalition of 80 artists and activists dedicated to ending inhumane immigration policies in America.

In Plain Sight launched during Independence Day weekend with a masterfully orchestrated four-day stretch of sky typing over 80 detention centers across the nation. The project extends beyond this weekend into the summer and fall 2020 with ongoing actions and forthcoming arts-related education and engagement programming.
