Film Screening of "Moananuiakea"

Directed by Nā‘ālehu Anthony, this documentary follows the crew of the Hōkūle‘a and Hikianalia as they voyage around the world using traditional Hawaiian navigation methods and educating through cultural exchange. It’s an inspiring narrative that weaves together footage taken over the past few years and brings the story home.

ICC Housewarming

We will start the event in the backyard for a brief welcome with light refreshments from 5-5:30 pm. Shortly after, attendees will be encouraged to explore the upstairs and downstairs of the house in an effort to invite students and campus partners to engage with the ICC throughout the year. The ICC is committed to creating meaningful programs and opportunities for students in partnership with departments across the college. We also hope this will be the first of many events where we can simply be in community with each other.

Oxy Bird Walk

The walk led by James Maley, collections manager for the Moore Lab, will begin in front of BioScience and head up the hill towards the baseball field where all of the parrots have been hanging out lately, then walk over to FEAST, one of the best birding spots on campus.

You might learn how the parrots got here, how to tell ravens from crows, how to identify various animals you might encounter, and how to use popular nature apps eBird and iNaturalist. The walk should last about an hour. There will be some binoculars to share.
