The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program funds fellowships for graduating seniors and recent alumni to work for a year as research assistants at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

2024-2025 Deadlines:

Internal application deadline: November 12, 2024

National deadline: TBA (in January 2025)

Purpose:

The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program funds fellowships for 12-14 graduating seniors and recent alumni to work for a year as research assistants at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Eligibility:

In order to apply, a candidate must:

- be a graduating senior or an alum who has graduated in the previous academic year and has not yet started a graduate program

- be eligible to work in the U.S. for the full 12 months of the program

Certain assignments require particular kinds of research experience or language skills. Assignments for the upcoming year are announced by mid-October. 

Oxy application process:

All interested applicants must apply through their undergraduate institution. Oxy may nominate 2 candidates per year.

Interested applicants should email the following documents (saved as PDFs) to fellowships@oxy.edu by 11:59pm on November 12, 2024:

1. the 3-page essay required by your chosen assignment/topic area, following the prompt for your program

2. a 1-page personal statement

3. a 1-2 page resume

4. an unofficial transcript

5. a list of two possible recommenders
