Recording Policy

When using any recording device in class:

A student with a qualifying disability must be registered with the Dean of Students Office (DOS). The student must provide the appropriate documentation to the DOS pertaining to the disability. If the student’s accommodation includes recording a lecture, class, or activity, the student will review and sign this agreement and submit it to their instructor for his/her signature.

A student who meets the criteria to use a recording device as an accommodation may do so for their personal study use only. Lectures recorded for this reason may not be shared with other people without the consent of the lecturer. Recorded lectures may not be used or posted in any form of social media.  The recorded lecture, or students whose classroom comments are recorded as part of the class activity, are protected under federal copyright laws and may not be published without the consent of the lecturer and class participants. Please be aware that the individual being tape recorded needs to give you his/her permission prior to the recording.  You’re advised to have a conversation with your professor and obtain their permission at the start of the semester or as soon as possible thereafter.  The student will delete the recorded materials in any and all formats at the completion of the term for the course. Failure to comply with any of these terms may result in disciplinary action.
