Woody Studenmund is the Laurence de Rycke Professor of Economics Emeritus at Occidental, having retired in 2022 after teaching at the College  since 1970. His primary professional interests are reflected in his textbook, Using Econometrics. The book, currently in its seventh edition, was the top selling elementary econometrics text at liberal arts colleges for over a decade. Studenmund's favorite classes to teach were applied econometrics and managerial economics, and he also served the College in a variety of administrative positions, including vice president for student services and Dean of admission and financial aid.  Studenmund received the Loftsgordon Award for excellence in teaching, the Io Triumphe Award for contributions to Occidental's spirit of community, and the Janosik Award for service to the College.
