You are invited to see Parajanov's award-winning Ukranian film, deemed "a timeless Carpathian story," about a young man who falls in love with the daughter of his father's killer among the Hutsul people of Ukraine.
The demo will feature exercises playing with status and equality onstage, working on building both character and ensemble-sensibility (and practicing the transition from one to the other). Come ready to move!
For over a decade, leaders in the field of intimacy choreography have been developing systems for staging sexually charged material in a way that prioritizes the body sovereignty of actors. In a few weeks, the first academic journal section will be published on the topic, which includes multiple contributions on the history, present, and future of intimacy choreography. Mark Allen is an artist and curator based in Los Angeles. Between 2003 and 2018 he was the executive director of Machine Project, a nonprofit art space that produced more than 2,000 events in 15 years, including operas for dogs, vacations for plants, and concerts for dentists, as well as shows with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Hammer Museum at UCLA, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Dever, the Walker Museum in Minneapolis and the Tang Teaching Museum in Satatoga Springs, New York.
