Poet and Museum Educator Alicia Vogl Saenz leads free poetry workshop, "Meeting the Mysterious Self." Alicia will help you evolve a new poem by slowing down the internal chatter so that you can get to the essential good stuff, the material that makes strong poems.

The great American poet William Carlos Williams referred to a poem as a "machine made out of words" -- it has its own secret mechanisms and power. Rick Bursky's workshop will help you evolve a new poem and concentrate on trimming extra words, focusing on the language itself and not simply the "story."
Bird LA Day is an annual city-wide event where the community gathers to celebrate the birds of Southern California. Here at the Moore Lab we will be taking a morning bird walk through campus with a coffee social and mini exhibit to follow. Take a closer look at some of the bird specimens from our unique museum collection, and experience a virtual reality demo. All ages welcome at this free, fun, and family-friendly event!
