Bat in flight with trees in the background

The Spring 2021 Biology Seminar Series continues with a talk from Biology alum, Dan Crowley. The seminar is on Tuesday, March 2nd, at 12:00pm PST.

Bat's unique immune systems and the implications for pathogen spillover

Why are bats implicated in the emergence of so many new infectious diseases? The talk will give a broad overview of some perplexing findings about the bat immune system and what implications that might have for the viruses bats host. Last, the talk will discuss the Bat1Health group and what questions it is trying to answer with its ecological research into viral spillover events.
