Professor Salvador Fernández
Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs (ADFA)

Salvador C. Fernández serves as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. In this role he supports all academic departments and programs. In this position, his work centers on faculty development, grants and sponsored research, and academic facilities. He manages faculty travel expenses, faculty start-up funds, and internal research grants and fellowships. In addition, he deals with the collective bargaining agreement for non-tenured faculty. He works closely with the Associate Dean for Curriculum Affairs on the Academic Planning Committee, which recommends the allocation of new faculty positions and manages Target of Opportunity faculty hires.  In addition, he serves as the Sponsored Research Officer, reviewing and approving institutional, departmental, and faculty grants. Finally, he coordinates the work associated with our academic facilities. Salvador C. Fernández is a Professor of Spanish, whose research interests are contemporary Mexican narratives and Chicano/a studies.
