Lockouts

Students are responsible for knowing the following:

Room keys and Oxy ID cards should be carried at all times.

Each resident is allowed two free lockouts per academic semester. Residents will be charged on a sliding scale for all subsequent lockouts. This means, after the initial two free lockouts, students will be charged $5.00 (USD) for every subsequent lockout. After a total of seven lockouts, which is equivalent to $25.00 (USD), the lockout for any individual exceeding seven total lockouts will be capped at the $25.00 (USD) amount for the remainder of that academic semester. At the end of every academic semester, the system will reset itself. All lockouts occurring between 2:00 AM-8:00 AM may be subject to a charge of $10.00 (USD) per lockout regardless of whether or not it is the first lockout occurrence. Residents that are locked out between the hours of 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Monday-Friday should contact the REHS Office at (323) 259-2531. Anytime outside of those hours residents should contact the RA that is on duty in their area by calling the number listed in the hall. An automatic lock change will be ordered for missing or lost brass keys, and the charge will be assessed to the resident of the room. Finally, during office hours, lockout fees will be applied once the REHS staff member leaves to let a student into their room, regardless if the student found their way into their room anytime between when the call was placed and the REHS staff's arrival. Lockouts remove staff from providing optimal support and resources to all students, parents, and campus partners.

Please note that money from lockouts will be added from your student accounts. No money should be transacted during this process.
