• According to several studies, depression and anxiety among college students has drastically increased in the last eight years. As faculty and staff, we can take small steps that could make a big difference to support our students.

Please join us for Oxy's annual Holiday Party on Friday, Dec. 9 from 5:30-11:30 p.m. in Rush Gym and the newly completed Cannon Plaza next door. Hosted by the Office of the President, the party is open to all faculty and staff, who are cordially invited to bring a single guest (who must be 18 years old or older). The reception begins at 5:30 p.m.

🏛 One of the College's oldest traditions, Convocation, will once again take place on Monday, August 29 at 10 a.m. in Thorne Hall. Staff and faculty are all invited to celebrate and welcome the newest members to our academic community.

On June 9, 1952, Janet Stafford, George Ellison, and Barbara Bowman Wright made Oxy history as the first College's Black graduates. "Platinum Jubilee" examines their lives and legacy in the Summer 2022 issue of Occidental magazine, now available exclusively online.

Summer programs are underway on campus, some returning to in-person for the first time in two years and some for the first time ever. Twenty-five students are currently interning at nonprofit organizations around the city as part of the Hameetman Career Center's InternLA program.

After a two-year hiatus, Human Resources was able once again to invite the College's employees to its annual Employee Recognition lunch and awards ceremony. The event was especially touching as our community comes together to grieve the loss of Robert Torres.

This past weekend, President Elam was inaugurated as our 16th president in a joyous Hillside Theater ceremony featuring a number of musical performances, as well as a call to bring “New Harmonies” to an Occidental liberal arts education. Thank you to everyone on campus who made the beautiful event possible.
