Raquel Elfassi of R&D Placement is a recruiter for directors in the world of advertising, focusing on high end commercial directors - whether they are at the beginning of their career or very established. She also consults with commercial production companies, recruiting EPs and representation for production and content companies. She is seeking an intern interested in this corner of the filmmaking industry to keep R&D’s social media up to date, do research on up and coming talent through film festivals (SXSW, Sundance, Vimeo) and alternative markets such as London and France, and help to build a talent database for organizing clients. Candidates should have a keen eye for narrative, a strong aesthetic, excellent organizational skills, and capacities in Google docs and other word processing and spreadsheet software. Blumhouse Productions
Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Whiplash, Insidious, The Jinx, The Purge, Split, Get Out, Happy Death Day) is looking to hire development interns for our film and television departments. We are seeking motivated interns that possess great work ethic and a critical eye for storytelling. An internship at Blumhouse includes script coverage, attending screenings, participating in our Intern Film Festival and assisting on pitch projects. Each summer, the Media Institute for Social Change hosts a group of college undergraduates to study public interest journalism in Portland. It is a documentary based program, by which students make their own audio and video projects that feature nonprofit leaders working on local solutions to global issues (visit our website at mediamakingchange.org). It is an opportunity to produce and exhibit original work, meet and network with industry professionals, and engage their academic curriculum in praxis with current sociopolitical issues in our community. Email rose@mediamakingchange.org for questions. Amigo Baby is an early intervention provider (we provide therapy to infants from birth to age 3 who have developmental delays) that operates in Ventura county. We are looking to create a series of short (10-15 minutes each) training videos that will cover a variety of developmental issues. We will of course provide a therapist that will guide the student on the topics. We are a small company and we work primarily with low income, Latino families so cannot pay a salary but can offer to cover expenses. Ideally this would be a class project/senior seminar.
