At the College’s annual faculty awards ceremony on Sept. 22, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Angie Bos presided over a program and reception honoring excellence in teaching, research, advising, and service.
Distinguished Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Mentoring Award
Through this annual award, the Undergraduate Research Center recognizes a member of the Occidental community for excellence in creative activity and research mentoring.

Michael Shelton, Spanish & French Studies
Graham L. Sterling Memorial Award
This award is bestowed to one or more members of the faculty in recognition of strong teaching and service to the College, and in particular, distinguished professional achievement, either in the form of significant publication, creative work, or public performance.
John McCormack, Biology
Two faculty members have also been appointed to named professorships this year. Erica Ball has been named the Anita Johnson Wand Professorship in Women's Studies, and Shana Goffredi has been named the Michael G. Gibby '68 and Barbara J. Gibby '68 Professor of Science, Biology.
