Board of Trustees

The Occidental Board of Trustees works to ensure the longevity of the institution while respecting its mission, traditions, and heritage.

Our Board members bring a wide variety of off-campus experience, and they provide diverse perspectives, insights, points of view, and skills which expand the context and resources for governing the College. As trustees of the College, Board members literally hold the College in trust, exercising the highest level of loyalty to, and care for, the College and its constituencies.

In this regard, trustees support the financial well-being of the College, and they use their many and varied relationships in the larger community to enhance the reputation of the College and to build support for its mission. Being a trustee for Occidental College is both an honor and a great responsibility.

News: Occidental College Adds Six To Board of Trustees

The Occidental College Board of Trustees welcomed five new members and a returning trustee to its ranks on July 1, 2026. In addition to their commitment to Occidental’s mission, they bring skills and expertise in a range of fields, including public health, law, diplomacy, the arts, healthcare, finance, and real estate.

Trustee Nominations

The College encourages members of the community, including faculty, students, staff, alums, donors, parents, and former and current trustees, to submit recommendations for new members of the Board of Trustees. If you would like to submit a recommendation, please use the form below, which will be routed to the Board's Nominating & Governance Committee for consideration.

The Nominating & Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees accepts nominations for new trustees until October 15th. The Board of Trustees votes on the slate of trustee candidates proposed by the Nominating & Governance Committee at its Spring Board meeting, and new trustees begin their term on July 1.
