Discover Occidental’s welcoming culture and learn about our commitment to inclusive resources and spaces. We’re here to help everyone thrive.

Occidental is one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the United States—nearly half of our students identify as domestic students of color or international. It’s part of our value system: we believe our community is strengthened and enriched by the varied backgrounds of our students.

Here, we’ll highlight some of the departments, offices, and programs that play an important role in providing you with individualized support, developing a sense of community on campus, and creating spaces where you can feel a sense of belonging.

On-Campus Resources

The Intercultural Community Center (ICC) is a student-centered hub that encourages dialogue, organizes inclusive programming, and nurtures community bonds at Occidental.

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) supports students in their pursuit of a meaningful religious and spiritual life, fostering mutual respect, awareness, and dialogue.

Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLICE) consolidates leadership, clubs, activities, and community engagement initiatives in one office, enriching the student experience both on and off campus. SLICE also oversees Affinity Groups, which encourage networking, personal development, and a sense of belonging among students with shared identities.

Themed Living Communities (TLCs), managed by Residential Education and Housing Services (REHS), are themed residence halls that provide intentional programming and community-building opportunities for students with shared identities.

Disability Services ensures equal access to education and programs for all students, including those with disabilities and those needing housing and academic accommodations.

The Veteran's Program supports the unique needs of our veteran students through advising, mentoring, networking, and affordable off-campus housing for veterans and their families.

The First-Gen Coalition empowers students who are the first in their families to attend and graduate from college. Coalition programming helps our first-gen students navigate college life, access campus resources, and connect with peers.

The International Programs Office (IPO) provides support for international students, including assistance with visa documentation, programming, special events, and more.
