A warm welcome from the Hameetman Career Center (HCC); you are officially invited to a series of career preparation workshops in early August!
Hello incoming Tigers,
Welcome to Oxy! We are so excited for you to join us on campus in just a few weeks. The HCC is Occidental College's primary resource for all things career preparation and internships. We believe it's never too early to begin thinking about life after Oxy and to set yourself up for success.
This summer, we are hosting a series of virtual workshops to get you in the career readiness mindset. The Resume Writing Workshop and Interview Preparation Workshop will each be offered three times in August. By attending these sessions, you will not only gain valuable information and a head start on your Oxy journey, but you will also take a step toward becoming eligible for exclusive HCC-sponsored programs (such as exclusive internship opportunities, unique funding and more).
• Mon, 8/7 : Resume Writing Workshop (3-4 p.m.), Interview Preparation Workshop (4:15pm-5:15pm)
• Tues, 8/8 : Resume Writing Workshop (10-11 a.m.), Interview Preparation Workshop (11:15am-12:15pm)
• Wed, 8/9 : Resume Writing Workshop (12-1 p.m.), Interview Preparation Workshop (1:15 p.m.-2:15 p.m.)

Handshake
In addition to attending virtual workshops this summer, you can also begin exploring Handshake, Occidental's online career management platform. This is where you will make appointments with a career advisor, register for events and explore HCC resources.
You can also build your Handshake profile by adding any previous work or volunteer experience. A complete profile will increase your chances of being contacted by a recruiter for a job or internship opportunity.
Please note: if you plan to apply for an on-campus job, you will need to provide certain documents that establish both your identity and employment authorization, if hired. You can review a list of Human Resources' acceptable documents here.
