In order to simplify our login processes and better secure Oxy’s systems, logins to Google Workspace will be routed through Oxy’s Microsoft Entra login system starting March 20th.
This is mostly a back-end change and you will continue to use the same email address and password to log in as you currently do. No data will be moved or lost in this transition. After entering your email address at gmail.com you will be directed to a Microsoft login page. Enter your Oxy email address and password as usual and you will be logged into Gmail.
You may recognize the Microsoft login page from many other Oxy systems such as Zoom, Moodle, and Panopto. We are unifying Oxy’s various login systems onto Microsoft Entra to provide a more unified yet flexible and secure login experience.
This change will also allow us to continue rolling out Multi-Factor Authentication which will become a requirement for accessing most Oxy systems later this semester. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to run through the enrollment process.
This cutover will work slightly differently for generic, club, or shared email addresses. The passwords for those accounts will need to be reset by ITS. Separate instructions will go out to those accounts.
