Re-applying for Aid

Save the date! March 2 is our annual deadline to re-apply for financial aid.

Occidental College is a member of the Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) offered through the College Board. The IDOC service offers families a secure portal to upload sensitive financial information. Students will need to complete their CSS Profile to have access to IDOC.

We are no longer able to accept application materials containing personally identifiable information (PII), such as Name, SSN, DOB, submitted directly to our office via email. Students will now create an account with IDOC in order to upload their documents, including copies of completed and signed federal tax returns (with all schedules and statements), W-2s or 1099 forms and other forms containing PII.

Students must re-apply for financial aid by our deadlines in order to be considered on time. Students who apply late risk not receiving institutional financial aid. The financial aid deadlines for the 2020-2021 academic year have passed. If you require financial assistance for 2020-2021, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

Step 1: Complete the 2021-22 FAFSA by March 2

Your FAFSA is partially completed from the information you submitted last year. Review and update your information, then sign and submit your FAFSA. Make sure to list Oxy, federal school code #001249

Step 2: Complete the 2021-22 CSS Profile by March 2

The CSS PROFILE application allows us to review your eligibility for Oxy need-based grants, loans, and work study. Remember to list Occidental College, CSS code #4581.

In addition, if you have a noncustodial parent, they must also complete their own CSS Profile application. Occidental requires a CSS Profile for both the custodial parent and the noncustodial parent.

Step 3: Complete the 2021-22 Student Financial Aid Online Supplement by March 2

Complete this online application through your myOxy web portal, it only takes a few minutes. The 2021-2022 application will be available in mid December 2020. If you are returning after a leave of absence, please contact the Financial Aid Office for a paper version of this application.

Step 4: Submit supporting documentation via IDOC by March 2

Submit all supporting documentation which includes but is not limited to parent(s) tax forms, student tax forms, and W-2s via IDOC

What Happens Next?

Once your file is complete, we will review the information you provided. If anything else is required after we review your file, we will notify you via email. After we finalize our review of your file, we will notify students via email to check their financial aid portal to view and accept their financial aid packages. Applications are reviewed between May and June for all returning students. Our goal is to present all aid offers by July 1st in the financial aid portal.
