Academic Student Projects (ASP) Grants [URC]

  • Funding for consumable research supplies to support independent research and creative work during the academic year. 
  • Restricted to full-time degree-seeking students
  • Award cap: $300
  • Deadlines: Applications are due by 5:00 pm (Oxy time) on the due date
    • Fall 2023: September 21 and October 17
    • Spring 2024: December 12 (early decision) and February 13

Academic Student Projects (ASP) Research Travel [URC]

  • Funding for projects or travel involving independent research or study with a significant intercultural or international emphasis. *All fellowships including international travel are subject to a pre-departure clearance process through IPO before funding will be awarded. 
  • Award cap: $2000
  • Deadline:
    • For Winter Break projects: The deadline is closed. 
    • For Spring Break projects, the deadline is January 29, 2024.
    • For Summer Break projects, the deadline is April 8, 2024, or six weeks prior if your proposed travel is in May 2024.

Anderson Fund [Politics Department]

  • Funding for academic student projects in the field of political science. *All fellowships including international travel are subject to a pre-departure clearance process through IPO before funding will be awarded. 
  • Restricted to full-time degree-seeking students majoring in Politics or UEP. 
  • Award cap for projects:
    • $2000 for Winter break
    • $4500 for Summer break 
    • Plus, up to $1000-1500 for students who face additional expenses related to travel and/or lodging
  • Deadline: Varies by type of award

OXY ARTS Student Initiatives [OxyArts]

  • OXY ARTS offers opportunities for Occidental College students.

Computer Science Student Conference Travel Fund [Computer Science Department]

  • Funding for students to attend computer science research conferences. Students are especially encouraged to apply to attend SACNAS and Grace Hopper conferences. Priority is given to computer science majors and minors.
  • Award cap: NA
  • Deadline: rolling

Schwartz Fund [Economics Department]

  • Funding to support students in significant learning experiences outside the classroom in the areas of economics, investment, or finance.  
  • Award cap: $3500
  • Deadline: rolling

Young Student Grants [Young Initiative]

  • Funding for independent research, internships, conferences, colloquia, and workshops related to world affairs or the global economy. *All fellowships including international travel are subject to a pre-departure clearance process through IPO before funding will be awarded.
