Read on for important health form deadlines, instructions on how to set up your eBill account and more.

Hello incoming Spring Transfer Students!

Now that you've committed to Oxy, there are several important steps you need to complete including setting up your eBill account, selecting your meal plan (if applicable) and submitting health insurance forms. Let's get right into it.

Billing

Electronic Billing (eBills) is the official means of providing student account statements to all Oxy students; authorized users are the people you provide permission to view your account and pay your student account balance. We encourage you to login to your student account and add our authorized users as soon as you are able, as adding authorized users allows others (that you select) to receive billing statements and make payments online. Your eBill account is the place where you will receive online billing statements including charges for tuition, room and board and other payments. To set up this account, you will log into myOxy, locate the Student Services tab and go to your "eBill account" to activate.

Your first bill will be available on Monday, December 12 and is due by Thursday, January 5; you will receive this first billing notice on Monday, December 12 to your Oxy email. If you do not yet have a housing assignment, you will still receive a bill for tuition and fees, and the housing assignment portion of your bill will post later (for those living on campus).

Meal Plan Form

The online meal plan form is open! It is located within myOxy, in the Student Services tab, titled, "Meal Plan Selection Form." Please keep in mind that if you do not choose a meal plan and are living on campus, you will be automatically assigned Meal Plan "A." If you are not planning to live on campus, you are not required to select a meal plan (but still can if you'd like).

Now, please direct your attention to an important message from the Emmons Wellness Center.

Health Care at Occidental

As a new student at Occidental, your health and well-being is of upmost importance to us. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to culturally sensitive and high-quality medical care, psychological counseling services and student-driven wellness education. On campus, these services are available through the Emmons Wellness Center.

In preparation for your arrival, we want to make sure you have access to health and wellness resources both on-campus and locally. To do this, need some important health and insurance information. Please read below for instructions on submitting this information. We ask that all health forms be completed by Tuesday, January 10, 2023, and that the form to waive or opt-in to health insurance be completed by Friday, January 27, 2023.

All new student health forms can be accessed here. You will need your myOxy login in order to access the forms. New student health forms must either be printed, signed and re-uploaded, or completed electronically.

The following forms are due by Tuesday, January 10, 2023:

• Financial Responsibility and Consent to Treatment (must be signed by student and parent/guardian)

• Personal Health History (this can be completed online - you do NOT need to upload a copy of this form as it is purely an electronic based questionnaire)

• Immunization Record (MUST be signed by a physician, an official printout from a State record agency, yellow vaccination card, or an immunization record on official letterhead from a hospital, facility, or doctor's office)

• COVID Vaccination proof (Uploaded on the Main page of the MyHealth Portal - Orange Button labeled "Enter My COVID-19 Vaccine Information)

• Physical Exam (only required of individuals living on campus and falling into select categories - please see the form for additional information)

Please keep in mind that while you upload your forms, all forms are manually reviewed by our medical providers before the hold can be removed. Please allow our medical providers 5-7 business days to process any clearance forms.

Health Insurance/Health Insurance Waiver
All enrolled students must have health insurance through an ACA accredited/approved health insurance plan. For on-campus study, students are required to have insurance that covers primary care services in Los Angeles County.

A student may opt out of the student health insurance plan by filling out an online waiver and providing proof of active health insurance at www.jcbins.com.

If you would like to purchase the United Healthcare Student Health Insurance plan, please visit the waiver website at www.jcbins.com to opt in to the health insurance plan. Full details of the plan are below, but we want to specifically mention that this plan is a full-service PPO plan that works at all United Healthcare providers throughout the United States. The plan also covers medical costs incurred abroad through reimbursement.

By opting in to the health insurance (rather than waiting for automatic enrollment), you will be able to access and print your health insurance card within 10 business days of enrolling. If you do not manually opt in or waive, you will be automatically enrolled in the student health plan and the full amount will be billed to your student account.

About the Student Health Insurance Plan:
Occidental offers a student health insurance plan through United HealthCare Insurance that covers primary, urgent, emergent, pharmaceutical and behavioral health care locally, nationally and internationally. There are no breaks in coverage, so you will be covered while on winter and summer breaks. Full details on Oxy’s student health insurance plan through United HealthCare are available at www.uhcsr.com/oxy. Please be aware: The Oxy Student Health Insurance plan is a medical only plan; dental and vision benefits are only covered as a pediatric benefit. Once your student turns 19 years of age or older, they will no longer have dental or vision benefits under the plan.
