2020 Summer Research Program

URC conference

Welcome to our 21st annual and first remote Summer Research Program!

In light of Los Angeles’ “Safer at Home” order and Oxy’s move to online instruction, the URC Summer Research Program (SRP) will be held remotely this summer with modifications. We are excited to run a modified 8-week (June 8 - August 1) virtual program this summer.

Fellows are expected to participate in our virtual community building, educational, and information sharing sessions created specifically for the SRP. All workshops will be held virtually.  We are in the process of working out logistical details about the SRP and will post more information here soon. We envision a virtual End of SRP Conference during the final week of the program.

In the interest of protecting the health and safety of students, faculty and staff the URC has adjusted its operations to a remote format. If you have questions or concerns please email the urc@oxy.edu. If you require further help and would like to schedule a Bluejeans or Zoom video conference with Karla J. Hernandez (URC Department Coordinator) or Emma Harwood '21 (URC Student Office Assistant) email the email the URC to set up an appointment.

Final Report and Abstract Requirements

Final reports and abstracts should be emailed (via PDF of Word doc only) to urc@oxy.edu and copied to your mentor.

The report should consist of:

  • Abstract: no more than 250 words
  • Report: 5-10 pages reporting on the outcomes of your research project. However, we will defer to your mentor's requirements, as long as your mentor does not want fewer than 5 pages. So -- if your mentor wants a 20-page paper, there is no need to edit your paper just send us a copy.

Please attach them to your email and title each attachment in the following manner:

  • Last, First, 2020 SRP Abstract
  • Last, First, 2020 SRP Report

Please send in the abstract and report separately and label accordingly.
